Industry Affiliates and Advisory Board

Advisory Board :

The Advisory board's purpose is to provide guidance to the Department with regards to the changing market-place and required modifications to our curricula to assure our students a competitive edge in the fast changing fields of systems and computer science.

The Board is independent and is allowed to operate and to provide unbiased information to the department. The Board consists of nine members selected by the faculty of the department to represent a cross-section of the types of businesses and agencies that recruit from the Department as well as businesses and agencies that the department would like to develop relationships with.  At least two board members are graduates of the Department and the Department Chair is an ex-officio member of the Board.  The Department Chair appoints members to serve on the Board for a period of two years, except in the first instance, when one-half of the Board is appointed to serve for one year.

The Chair of the Board convenes at least two meeting per year at times and places to be determined by the chair.  Faculty and students of the Department are invited occasionally to provide information and insights to the Board, but are not allowed to vote on decisions made by the Board.  The Chair of the Board forwards recommendations of the Board to the Department Chair in writing.  The Department Chair provides written justifications for recommendations that are not accepted and a plan for implementing recommendations that are accepted.
