Outreach Initiatives

The Department of Systems and Computer Science's outreach initiatives is a coordinated effort between the department, college, and Industry partners. We recognize that the scientific, economic, and human resource advantages that the US now enjoys are dependent on an IT workforce large and diverse enough to meet accelerating demand. The department and college have created a number of programs designed to help develop and sustain a strong, Engineering and IT labor pool. Our mission is to increase the quantity and quality of female and minority students and others who have been historically underrepresented in computer science. Our outreach initiatives provide distinctive programs, supportive services, mentoring, financial, and academic opportunities to highly-motivated women and minority students who have interest and potential to pursue careers in computer science.
